The Gicherori Wash Processing Station is located in the Embu region and serves about 1,050 local farmers. The soils in the region are red volcanic. The daily temperature ranges from 12 to 25 ° C. 1500 mm of precipitation falls annually.
New equipment was installed at the station, which makes it possible to use water more economically (recirculation). A disc grinder with three sets of discs is used to remove the skin and pulp (depulpation).
After depulpation, coffee is fermented overnight, then washed, then soaked for several hours in clean water, and then dried on African beds.
Drying time depends on weather conditions (on average, drying takes 7 to 15 days).
